WWI Bronze Memorial Plaque - Death Penny
This is a genuine WWI Memorial Plaque, this was dedicated to the loss and memory of Alfred Leonard Barrass of "A" Coy. 1st Battalion East Yorkshire Regiment. Killed in action on the 8th December 1914 aged 20.
Sadly he was killed by a snipers bullet while fetching water, three weeks prior he has posted a letter home say all was well and pleased with family gifts sent to him. This was reported and printed in the Hull Daily Mail 4th January 1915.
Son of Alfred and Gertrude Barrass of 9 Cobden Cottages, Westmorland St. Hull.
This plaque comes with its original cardboard packing.
